Yearly Archives: 2008

The end is nigh!

MotorcyclesTruly, 2008 is fast coming to an end.

Sadly for me, I have spent most of the last few days in bed nursing myself back to health having been hit by the worst flu bug ever!

I will have to rely on some older photos for now until I have the strength to get out there and capture any new shots. Today, I present a bright and sunny day at the seaside.

Enjoy!

Brrrrrrr!

frozen leavesIt has been pretty cold of late especially overnight when everything freezes over. I took this picture of some frozen leaves in the park a few days ago.

I am posting it because it is so similar in colour to the photograph I posted earlier.

The key difference is the temperature – it was a pleasant warm day in my earlier post unlike the bitterly cold day in this one!

Home…

hole in the groundI took this picture in Florida a few years ago.

Sadly I never did get to find out who lived down this hole. I really wanted to tell the little creature that its home was rather nice.

Perhaps one day he will visit this site and find out that I meant no harm when I called out to him ; -)

Look into my eyes

the cat's eyesThis is a picture of my friend’s cat, Princess which I took a while ago.

I love her eyes in this picture and thought I would share it with you.

Enjoy.

A flash of colour

St Olav plaqueThis is a picture I took recently at St. Olav’s church in London.

I am rather pleased with this one as it turned out exactly as I wanted it to. Special thanks to my friend who initially spotted the picture opportunity and also Mother Nature who provided me with the most excellent lighting.

After I had taken the shot, a large cloud drifted in front of the sun and the shadow disappeared.

Take 2! Of late, I have felt a bit lacking in “colour” so I went out in search of colour and came up with a cheeky photo which you can see here. Just in case it was too cheeky, I also posted this cloud today. I am not saying which I prefer!

doggie loveA couple of years ago, I did some work for an online business magazine. The editor will often frown when he read an article one of his journalist had written, commenting that it “had no colour”.

“Colour” I came to understand was the pizzazz that transformed an article from a dull and boring report into a fun and interesting read.

Of late, I have felt a bit lacking in “colour” so I went out in search of colour and came up with this. In case it is too cheeky, I have also posted this alternative cloud for today! Either way, have a great day.

Wake up and smell the coffee

coffee brewingThis is a picture I took a few years ago.

The smell of coffee would slowly fill the air, getting stronger as the percolator brewed.

Soon the gentle sound of a teaspoon stirring in a cup of coffee would make way for the newscaster’s voice on the television, the clatter of the letterbox as the postman pushes letters through the door, the squeaky ironing board and the hurried footsteps of someone trying to get ready…

Welcome to a new day!

A point of view

I went to an exhibition at Olympia in Kensington on Sunday. I admired greatly the ironwork structure of the Olympia venue itself. Opened in 1886, this is a beautiful piece of engineering and craftsmanship, truly standing the test of time. They really don’t make them like they used to and I do often wonder how many of the modern buildings will truly stand the test of time like this has done.

The ladybirds

I came across these ladybirds enjoying the autumn sun on a wooden post. I watched for a while as they practiced stretching out their wings and then tucking them in again. It reminded me of automated convertible cars lowering and raising their roofs.

They were all still there an hour or so later when I was heading back – the little posers!
